New information to improve LARC access in teens
The American Academy of Pediatrics has released new information to improve long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) access for teenagers.
Apart from the intended use of LARC to prevent pregnancy in teenagers, they have also proved to be useful in treating HMB and AUB. Recent studies have also shown that LARC can be used to treat endometriosis pain.
Similarly, LARC may even lower symptoms of depression in adolescents and young adults.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AACP) has recently issued a clinical report to provide pertinent information about improving access to LARC in teens.
The report includes several crucial topics, such as taking time to discuss expected side effects, changes to bleeding patterns and reminding patients that condoms are still needed to protect patients against STIs.
